Sophia wins Award for Excellence and place at
Laine Theatre Arts
Hazelwood student Sophia Walker was delighted when she heard she had been offered a place at Laine Theatre Arts College in Surrey. Having attended Summer Schools and dance events there in the past, it was always Sophia’s dream to start her full time training at Laine Theatre Arts in September.
Sophia’s talents were also spotted by The Sudbury Festival of Performing Arts, a festival she has entered with Hazelwood Dance Studios for many years. The Bernard Johnson Award is given by the Committee, on recommendation of the Adjudicators, to an outstanding performer, aged 16-25, in Music, Speech and Drama or Dance. The Bursary is to be used by the winner towards further studies.
“I’ve been at Hazelwood since I was three years old and I’ve had a wonderful time! I’m absolutely thrilled and excited to be studying at Laine Theatre Arts, where I can pursue my training to become a professional dancer. I’m so looking forward to starting in September!”
