Our Teachers

Hazel Jackman

Principal

Hazel Jackman founded Hazelwood Dance Studios in 1991 and is a graduate of London College of Dance and Drama. Her love and enthusiasm for dance and theatre can be seen in the versatility, dedication and successes of her students. Hazel is a fully qualified teaching member of the Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, and holds qualifications in Applied Anatomy and Physiology, and the History and Development of Western Dance.


Hannah Francis

Syllabus, Freework & Choreography

Hannah Francis trained at Bird College before working professionally as a dancer in the USA for many years. On relocating to Italy she founded, developed and directed her own school ‘Accademia Royal Di Danza’ before returning to Suffolk in 2017. Hannah brings her wealth of experience and knowledge to pupils, pre-vocational students and adults at Hazelwood and is currently studying for a BA(Hons) in Dance Education with the Royal Academy of Dance.


Abigail Waite

Syllabus, Freework and Choreography

Abigail Waite trained at Tiffany Theatre College before dancing professionally both in the UK and overseas. On her return to England, Abigail gained ISTD teaching qualifications in Ballet, Modern and Tap, and taught throughout Norfolk and Suffolk before joining Hazelwood Dance Studios in 2013. Abigail also holds an Acrobatic Arts teaching certificate and the Fellowship teaching qualification of the ISTD in Modern Theatre Dance.


Ella Price

Pre-School & Choreography

Ella Price graduated from University of Chichester with a BA (Hons) Degree in Musical Theatre Performance.  On returning to Bury St. Edmunds she began training as an ISTD teacher and is currently studying for DDE qualifications in Modern Theatre Dance and Tap. Ella’s passion for dance began at Hazelwood Dance Studios, where for 15 years she enjoyed dancing as a pupil. She’s delighted to be back and have the opportunity to pass on her skills and love of dance to the next generation.


Caroline Austin

Choreography

Caroline Austin trained with Hazelwood Dance Studios before successfully auditioning for Performers College.  Currently in her second year, Caroline is studying for a BA (Hons) Degree in Musical Theatre (Dance) and ISTD DDE teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap and Modern. Having already accumulated a wealth of experience performing in dance festivals, shows and competitions, Caroline recently appeared in the 2019 Rugby Clash Event at Twickenham with Mass Movement and Performers annual show ‘Thirty’ at the Towngate Theatre, Basildon.
