It was another successful year for Hazelwood pupils who competed at the six day event held at Ormiston Sudbury Academy.

Over 60 dancers from Hazelwood Dance Studios have worked tremendously hard since last summer preparing group numbers, solos, duets and trios for performance at the largest Festival in the region.  Teachers and guest choreographers worked closely with pupils to create a variety of dances and styles including Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern, Character and Song and Dance which were adjudicated by Carole Doyle Dip. RAD, AISTD, DDE.

The school were delighted to have been awarded 90 marks and 1st Place for their Senior Tap group entry choreographed by Abigail Waite LISTD.  Pupils also took home the Classical Cup for Best Group 13 yrs and under, The Davies Family Cup for the highest marked Character duet, the highest marked Song and Dance Duet Award and Best Modern Solo medal.  Hazelwood dancers also excelled in the Own Choreography and Free Improvisation sections winning the overall awards for all three sections.

Teachers at Hazelwood said it has been a lovely start to the Festival season with brilliant team spirit; “We are all extremely proud.”

The Sudbury Festival of Performing Arts was founded as Clare Festival in 1922 and is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals.
